There are those who trace it back to at least the fifteenth century, but according to various authors, the clock tower was erected in the second half of the sixteenth century, when the bell of the Reason was placed there, set up on a wooden structure that later deteriorated.
This fact made the Maestrato dei Savi decide to offer adequate support to said bell, so in 1603 the architect Giovan Battista Aleotti was commissioned for this purpose, who also intervened on the architectural structure of the tower, giving it the appearance that largely still maintains.
In 1864 the clock with a luminous dial was created.
